As part of the Joining Forces national initiative led by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden, Chamberlain College of Nursing has committed to further educate nursing students to better prepare them to meet the unique health needs of service members, veterans and their families. Joining Forces is a comprehensive national initiative to mobilize all sectors of the community to ensure service members, veterans and their families receive the support they earned, particularly with respect to employment, education and wellness.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Appoints Susan King as Chicago Campus President and Patrick Robinson to Dean of Undergraduate Curriculum and Instruction — May 3, 2012
Chamberlain College of Nursing has announced the appointment of Susan King, MBA, MSN, RN, as president of its Chicago campus. King has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including practice, executive management and instruction. In her new role, she will oversee implementation of the curriculum, delivery of student services, growth and development of regional clinical partnerships and management of the day-to-day operations for Chamberlain’s Chicago campus.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Establishes New Campus in Atlanta’s Perimeter Center — March 5, 2012
Chamberlain College of Nursing is opening a new campus in Perimeter Center in Atlanta and is now accepting applications for admission to the summer semester, which begins April 30, 2012. The Atlanta campus features Chamberlain’s SIMCARE CENTER (TM), which provides high-tech simulated patient care in clinical learning environments, and a Center for Academic Success, which provides students with comprehensive academic resources and support. This new campus opening reinforces Chamberlain’s commitment to increasing access to nursing education and addresses the growing demand for nurses in Georgia.

Chamberlain College of Nursing and National Association of Hispanic Nurses Establish National Education Program — February 8, 2012
Chamberlain College of Nursing and the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN) announced a new education program that provides NAHN members with a special tuition rate for Chamberlain’s post licensure online programs. This program expands access to advanced education for more than 3,000 Hispanic nurses in 48 chapters throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

Chamberlain College of Nursing’s Miramar, Fla. Campus Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program Receives Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education Approval — January 10, 2012
Chamberlain College of Nursing is pleased to announce that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has approved inclusion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program at the Miramar, Fla. campus in Chamberlain’s BSN accreditation. This programmatic accreditation follows the May 16, 2011 approval to include the campus in Chamberlain’s institutional accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of College and Schools.

Important Chamberlain Communication: Accreditation Update — January 5, 2012
Chamberlain is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a regional accrediting agency, and has maintained elective programmatic accreditation with the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) at select locations. Chamberlain has reviewed our elective programmatic accreditations and has made a purposeful decision regarding Chamberlain’s NLNAC accreditation.

Chamberlain College of Nursing Earns Distinction Among America’s Most “Military Friendly Schools” — January 4, 2012
Chamberlain College of Nursing has been named in the “2012 Guide to Military Friendly Schools,” an annual list from G.I. Jobs magazine. The list highlights the top 20 percent of colleges and universities that demonstrate their commitment to recruiting, retaining and supporting military personnel and veterans. This distinction follows Chamberlain becoming a proud member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium. SOC is an association funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) that recognizes colleges and universities with policies and programs designed to meet the higher education needs of servicemembers worldwide.

Chamberlain College of Nursing and Missouri Nurses Association Establish Education Program — December 5, 2011
Chamberlain College of Nursing and the Missouri Nurses Association (MONA), the only professional organization for all registered nurses (RNs) in Missouri, announced a program that provides RNs with a special tuition rate to advance their education. The program, which is new for MONA, expands access to Chamberlain’s post licensure online educational programs for association members throughout the state.

Chamberlain College of Nursing and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) announced a national clinical partnership that will support children and teenagers with neuromuscular diseases who attend the MDA’s annual weeklong, overnight summer camps located throughout the country. The partnership offers campers enhanced resources while providing Chamberlain’s pre-licensure nursing students with expanded clinical opportunities to learn more about neuromuscular diseases.

Chamberlain College of Nursing announces the appointment of Karilyn Lesassier Van Oosten, MA, as director of strategic alliances. Van Oosten will secure regional and national alliances with healthcare organizations to further expand the diverse educational opportunities Chamberlain provides for its students and enhance the level of nurses' education to improve healthcare outcomes. In this newly created role, she will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the healthcare and clinical development teams as well as expanding clinical opportunities.

Chamberlain College of Nursing announced today the appointment of William Richard Cowling, III, PhD, APRN-BC, AHN-BC, FAAN, as vice president of academic affairs. Dr. Cowling brings more than 40 years of experience in nursing education, clinical practice, research and administration to his new role at Chamberlain. Chamberlain College of Nursing Students Travel to Brazil on Service Project — July 18, 2011
In an effort to expand nursing education and clinical experiences, Chamberlain College of Nursing recently introduced its International Nursing Service Project to Chicago area nursing students. The project enabled baccalaureate degree nursing students from Chamberlain's Addison campus to provide healthcare services and education to Brazilians in local impoverished communities that otherwise do not have access to care.

Thousands of Kenyans Receive Aid Provided by Nursing and Medical Students — June 21, 2011
Chamberlain College of Nursing and Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM), both part of DeVry Inc., responded to this call for action and established the Interprofessional Global Healthcare Project (IGHP), a joint initiative that enables nursing and medical students from each school to provide healthcare services and education to impoverished communities. Students and faculty recently conducted their first global project in Nairobi, Kenya.

Chamberlain College of Nursing is opening a new campus in Miramar, Fla. with classes beginning in July 2011. This expansion reinforces Chamberlain’s commitment to prepare additional nurses in the southern portion of the state in response to the growing demand for nurses. The Miramar campus is Chamberlain’s second location in Florida; Chamberlain’s Jacksonville campus opened in 2009.
