Chamberlain College of Nursing Appoints Dr. Diana Meeks-Sjostrom as Dean of Master of Science in Nursing Degree Program
Chamberlain maintains commitment to advanced education with new appointment

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — April 26, 2011 — Chamberlain College of Nursing has announced the appointment of Diana Meeks-Sjostrom, PhD, RN, MSN, CS, FNP-BC, ONC, as dean of the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom served as an associate professor at Chamberlain and was responsible for new program development and research initiatives. In her new role, Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom will enhance the online post-baccalaureate degree programs and build upon Chamberlain’s foundation for high standards of academic quality.

“We’re thrilled to announce Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom as the new dean of Chamberlain’s MSN degree program,” said Susan Groenwald, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “Her depth of experience, spanning 25 years of nursing education and research, will help Chamberlain further its mission to provide nursing professionals with innovative opportunities to advance their careers and improve patient care.”

Chamberlain’s MSN degree program is a post-licensure professional degree program designed to prepare nurses for expanding roles in healthcare and enhance opportunities for professional advancement. Students can complete the MSN degree program in as few as two years online with on-site practicum.

“It’s a great time to be at Chamberlain and to bring innovative advanced degree programs to our students,” said Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom. “Chamberlain continues to provide educational opportunities that not only prepare graduates to advance in their nursing careers but also enable them to lead and inspire the nurses of tomorrow.”

Prior to joining Chamberlain, Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom was the director of nursing at Bauder College in Atlanta where she oversaw the development and implementation of two new nursing programs. She previously served as both director of Nursing Research and director of the Center for Nursing Excellence at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta where she was responsible for strategic plan development.

Dr. Meeks-Sjostrom earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, graduating with honors. She completed a MSN degree and the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Kennesaw State University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at Georgia State University.
