Chamberlain College of Nursing announces the appointment of Karilyn Lesassier Van Oosten, MA, as director of strategic alliances. Van Oosten will secure regional and national alliances with healthcare organizations to further expand the diverse educational opportunities Chamberlain provides for its students and enhance the level of nurses' education to improve healthcare outcomes. In this newly created role, she will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the healthcare and clinical development teams as well as expanding clinical opportunities.

Karilyn Van Oosten Joins Chamberlain College of Nursing as Director of Strategic Alliances
Van Oosten's expertise in alliance building further integrates Chamberlain's clinical and educational development

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. — October 6, 2011 — Chamberlain College of Nursing announces the appointment of Karilyn Lesassier Van Oosten, MA, as director of strategic alliances. Van Oosten will secure regional and national alliances with healthcare organizations to further expand the diverse educational opportunities Chamberlain provides for its students and enhance the level of nurses' education to improve healthcare outcomes. In this newly created role, she will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of the healthcare and clinical development teams as well as expanding clinical opportunities.

"Van Oosten's rich history in business development, her experience securing successful educational alliances and her proven leadership skills will be an asset to Chamberlain," said Susan Groenwald, PhD(c), MSN, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. "By integrating clinical and educational outreach, Chamberlain will be creating alliances to collaboratively transform healthcare worldwide."

Van Oosten has more than 10 years of experience developing business alliances for nursing education institutions, most recently leading efforts at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix as senior director of enrollment and director of strategic business alliances in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Prior to joining Grand Canyon University, she spent three years at University of Phoenix in business development and several years at ING Financial Services as an emerging markets manager.

Throughout her career, Van Oosten has instituted more than 85 healthcare and 20 educational alliances nationwide. In addition, she helped establish the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program at Grand Canyon University with the Hospital Association of Southern Arizona in Tucson and Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

"As healthcare institutions are seeking more collaborative relationships with nursing schools that offer both clinical and educational opportunities, I am confident that Chamberlain can meet their needs," said Van Oosten. "I look forward to building on Chamberlain's deep tradition of providing quality education and hope to secure more alliances in the coming years."

Van Oosten earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Belmont Abby College in Belmont, N.C., and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. She earned a Master of Arts in language and culture from Arizona State University in Tempe and is currently a candidate for a Doctorate of Psychology in applied cognitive neuroscience at Universidad Maimónides in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Van Oosten is an active board member of several organizations, including the Arizona Organization Project, Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council and Fresh Start Women's Foundation.
