National League for Nursing Inducts Dr. Gail Baumlein to Board of Governors
Chamberlain College of Nursing dean and director, Dr. Gail Baumlein, is inducted at the 2010 National League for Nursing’s Education Summit
LAS VEGAS — October 2, 2010 — Dr. Gail Baumlein, director and dean of MSN online degree programs at Chamberlain College of Nursing, was inducted to the National League for Nursing’s (NLN) Board of Governors during their 2010 Annual Education Summit, “Shaping History, Reforming Healthcare: The Power of Nursing Education,” on Oct. 2. Dr. Baumlein will have the privilege to serve as a governor at large for a three-year term.
The NLN’s Annual Education Summit, the much-anticipated professional gathering for nurse educators and leaders in nursing education, was held from Sept. 29 through Oct. 2 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The summit examined the future of higher education and nursing's role in advancing healthcare and recognized outstanding leaders in nursing education.
“Dr. Baumlein has played an integral role in the education of our students and enhancing our curriculum at Chamberlain. We’re proud to see her receive this prestigious honor as a testament to her career accomplishments and reputation in the nursing industry at large,” said Susan Groenwald, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “Dr. Baumlein’s impressive career, characterized by leadership, advocacy, and scholarship, will be celebrated by this induction to the NLN’s Board of Governors.”
As a governor at large, Dr. Baumlein will work to advance the NLN's mission of promoting excellence in nursing education and building a strong and diverse nursing workforce. In her role, Dr. Baumlein will strengthen the NLN's national and international reputation as a recognized leader in nursing education. She will act as the voice of nurse educators and champion of their interests in political, academic and professional arenas in an effort to build a diverse, sustainable, member-led organization.
Dr. Baumlein joined Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2007 with more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She earned her doctoral degree in education and her master’s degree with a specialty in adult health and emphasis in nursing education from the University of Akron and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Ohio State University. After more than 10 years as a licensed practicing nurse, Dr. Baumlein began a second career as a nursing school instructor and education technology consultant. Prior to joining Chamberlain College of Nursing, she was an assistant professor and online instructional designer at Mount Carmel College of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio.
