Student Life Snapshots
There’s always exciting events taking place at Chamberlain campuses. But sometimes, the excitement also comes from student experiences off campus. Check out the latest highlights for Chamberlain students across the nation as they learn and grow in and out of the classroom.
Ride of a Lifetime
Houston campus students were able to experience what it would be like as a flight nurses at the Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. Students were flown around the city in the hospital’s emergency helicopter, giving them a look at the equipment onboard and what it would be like to work in flight.
Not Your Average Field Trip
In Cleveland, NR-101 Transitions in Nursing students took a field trip to the Global Center for Health Innovation, a one-of-its-kind facility that showcases health and healthcare innovation, technology, commerce and education.
“The goal of this trip was to inspire an excitement about the field of nursing in our students,” said Taryn Rechenbach, MS, Student Services Manager at the campus. “We hope this exposure to the future world of healthcare will help students to recognize the value of a Chamberlain degree and will inspire students to stay in school despite obstacles that may emerge during their studies.”
Hands-on Early on
During their first sessions in Chamberlain’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, students build the foundation for their future nursing courses. In this photo from the Jacksonville campus, future Chamberlain nurses participate in a blood pressure demonstration and lab for BIOS 255 Anatomy & Physiology III. The course is usually taken during the second semester of the BSN program.
Columbus Student Honored with Scholarship
Jessica Marshall (left), a BSN student on the Columbus campus, was recently awarded a Columbus Rotary scholarship and a scholarship from the Nurturing the Nursing Profession organization.
Jessica is the president of the Student Nurses Association on the campus and was named Nursing Student of the Year for 2014 by the National Student Nurses Association.
Recently, the Houston campus hosted its Presidents Forum. Students enjoyed pizza and drinks, and faculty and staff were on hand to visit with students and answer questions. Student Government Association (SGA) leaders also shared information about their upcoming events.
