Welcome to the Phi Pi Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society

Formerly known as the Chamberlain College of Nursing Honor Society, the Phi Pi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Nursing Honor Society was chartered on October 20, 2011. The Phi Pi Chapter of STTI celebrates scholarship, research and academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate nursing students, as well as the achievements of professional nurses. Our mission is to support learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference worldwide.

As one of the newest chapters of STTI, we further our honor society’s mission by offering our members the vast resources of one of the most respected nursing organizations in the world. Founded in 1922, STTI now has chapters in more than 20 countries, with more than 130,000 members worldwide*.

Phi Pi Chapter President’s Message

Taryn HillDear Honored Phi Pi Members,

I am excited and esteemed to be your Phi Pi Chapter President for the next biennium. I had the distinct pleasure in attending the most recent STTI Biennium in Indianapolis, Indiana with Past President, Dr. Ellen Poole. During this time, I was able to network with other chapter officers and discuss my ideas for leading this chapter over the next two years.

I was privileged to be present when STTI's Past President Dr. Suzanne Prevost presented the President's Chain and Gavel during transition of officers to Current President, Dr. Hester Klopper. President Klopper is STTI's first President who comes from outside of North America. Based on her goals for the next biennium, I have developed my Call to Action. I am honored to share it with you now.

Moving Past Induction: Energizing your Phi Pi Chapter Membership

My hopes for the next two years are that we can support President Klopper's Call to Action through:

  1. Global Leadership
  2. Local Service
  3. Regional Transformation

I have begun 3 discussion posts so that we can share both scholarship and service ideas. I will be doing much of my communication about our chapter through the circle. I encourage you all to stay updated on what is going on in your local area. I would like to continue to encourage all of you to continue to access updates from the Phi Pi Chapter website and Sigma Theta Tau International on The Circle. You will continue to see multiple ways to be involved in your chapter. Your comments, ideas, and suggestions for ways to be active are also appreciated!

One goal I have is to apply for, and secure, a Chapter Key Award. Perhaps we can even be a Regional Chapter of Excellence! If you have any comments or questions, be sure to contact me! I am excited to begin this adventure!

I’d like to close with a Call for Volunteers. We are establishing committees for awards, finance and programming – all of which need active member participation. As a national organization, the majority of our work is conducted through conference calls and emails, so it’s easy to get involved no matter where you live. Please consider volunteering for one of these opportunities. For questions or more information, please contact me at thill@chamberlain.edu.
