Instructions for Applying to Chamberlain's Undergraduate Degree Program

Thank you for your interest in pursuing your nursing education at Chamberlain College of Nursing. Please follow the instructions below to submit an application for admission. Make sure to review the admission requirements before you apply.

  1. Submit a completed Application for Admission. Apply online or download the Application for Admission Form (PDF).
  2. Admission documents may be mailed or faxed to the address indicated on the application.
  3. Submit a non-refundable* application fee payable to Chamberlain College of Nursing (major credit cards, personal check, or money order accepted).
  4. Schedule an interview with the admission representative
  5. Request an official transcript documenting proof of graduation, California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE), or successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) Examination. This may come from a state-approved high school, the College Board, or the college or university where diploma, associate, or bachelor's degree was earned.
  6. Request official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Failure to submit all transcripts may result in a re-evaluation of the admission decision, possibly leading to the revocation of the decision and dismissal from the program.
  7. Schedule the A2 Admissions Assessment. (See Admission Requirements if applicable).
  8. Provide proof of a current LPN, LVN, or RN license from the U.S. or from a jurisdiction that is an associate member of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). (See Admission Requirements if applicable).
  9. Request a copy of ACT or SAT scores to be sent directly to the College. Please request the ACT and/or SAT code(s) from an admission representative. Codes vary for each campus. (See Admission Requirements if applicable).
  10. For pre-licensure programs, complete a criminal background check and drug screen.
    Official foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) approved evaluating agency.
  11. In addition, applicants from countries where English is not the primary language spoken, whose native language is not English, or who earned their last degree from an institution where the language of instruction was not English, must demonstrate English-language proficiency by providing evidence of one of the following:
    • Having scored at least 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), having scored at least 213 on the computer-based TOEFL, or at least 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL.
    • Having successfully completed four consecutive years of a secondary education or higher in which the language of instruction was English.
    • Having completed at least 2 consecutive years of full-time study (12 or more semester hours per semester) with a CGPA of 2.75 or higher at a post-secondary institution at which English was the language of instruction.
    • Having an overall band score of at least 6.5 with no band below 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination.

Home-Schooled Applicants and Applicants from High Schools Not Recognized by Chamberlain College of Nursing

The Admission Committee will evaluate home-schooled applicants and applicants from high schools not recognized by Chamberlain College of Nursing to determine if the applicant’s high school education meets Chamberlain’s proof of graduation requirement. The criteria include, but are not limited to:

  • High school curriculum must parallel the curriculum required of state-approved high schools.
  • A portfolio containing a profile of the school attended must be submitted for review.
  • The student must have ACT or SAT scores that meet the Chamberlain requirements.
  • Additional information may be required, such as samples of work demonstrating secondary-level learning.

The Admission Committee evaluates these students, taking into account the above criteria, and notifies the applicant whether or not he or she may proceed with the admission process. Applicants may also proceed with the admission process by earning a GED certificate.

Non-Degree-Seeking Students

In unique circumstances, an individual may desire enrollment in a particular course. Permission to enroll as a non-degree-seeking student is granted on an individual basis. A non-degree-seeking student is not considered accepted into the nursing program and is ineligible for financial aid. Non-degree-seeking international nurses desiring enrollment in any nursing course must show evidence of English language skills. 

Change in Program

A student wishing to change programs at Chamberlain College of Nursing will need to apply to that program as a new student. Admission into one of Chamberlain College of Nursing’s programs does not guarantee admission into another program. Chamberlain College of Nursing's programs does not guarantee admission into another program or program option. A Chamberlain student seeking admission to the Second Degree BSN option should follow the Second Degree BSN option policy and procedures for applying.

Change of Location

Students currently enrolled and in good standing at Chamberlain College of Nursing may request a change of location to any other Chamberlain campus offering the same program of study as their current enrollment. The change request will be honored if space is available. To request a change of location, submit a completed Change of Location form which is available through your student services representative.

*Application fee is refundable if the applicant cancels the agreement in writing prior to midnight of the tenth business day after the date of transaction. The application fee is waived for alumni and students currently attending Carrington College, Chamberlain College of Nursing, DeVry University and Keller Graduate School of Management as well as for qualified military personnel (DOD employees, active, retired, veteran, spouse of active duty, spouses of veterans, spouses of retired military). No application fee is required for current Chamberlain students enrolled in the RN-BSN to MSN option. Applicants with a valid, current "Request for Waiver of College Application Fee form" issued by the CollegeBoard or the ACT will not be required to pay an application fee. Applicants who are utilizing the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Centralized Application System (e.g., AACN NursingCAS) and have submitted a Chamberlain application for admission via this service will have their Chamberlain application fee waived.
