CHICAGO – June 23, 2010 – Chamberlain College of Nursing has announced the appointment of Patrick Robinson, PhD, RN, ACRN, as dean of its new Chicago campus. In this role, Dr. Robinson will oversee ongoing curriculum development and student services, help grow and develop clinical partnerships, and manage day-to-day operations at the College.

Dr. Robinson joins Chamberlain with more than with 20 years of professional nursing experience as a clinician, researcher, educator and administrator. Prior to arriving at Chamberlain, Robinson was a faculty member and department chair at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University Chicago. He has received multiple awards for excellence in leadership and teaching.

Dr. Robinson is a national leader in the field of HIV/AIDS nursing care and education, having published extensively on the topic. He also serves on the boards and advisory panels for several national HIV/AIDS and nursing organizations.

“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Robinson at the helm of our new Chicago campus,” said Susan Groenwald, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “His broad experience in nursing and nursing education, combined with his dedication to research and scholarship, will guide him as he leads the campus in developing clinically proficient and compassionate nurses, in turn enabling Chamberlain to help address Illinois’ critical and growing shortage of nurses.”

Robinson earned both Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Indiana University as well as a PhD in Nursing from Loyola University in Chicago. He completed a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in biobehavioral nursing research at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Nursing, where he went on to become a faculty member and executive assistant dean of administration.

Chamberlain College of Nursing’s new Chicago campus offers an on-site Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program that can be completed in three years of year-round study instead of the typical four years with summers off, allowing students to enter the workforce and begin earning a salary sooner than their peers at other higher education institutions. For registered nurses, Chamberlain offers a Fast-Track RN to BSN Online Degree Completion Program as well as a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) online degree program for nurses looking to take the next step in their career.

The new campus location is the 120-year-old nursing college’s second campus in Illinois and seventh nationwide. For more information about Chamberlain College of Nursing’s Chicago campus, please visit
