Chamberlain College of Nursing Appoints Dr. Patricia Byrnes Martin as Tinley Park Campus President
TINLEY PARK, Ill. – Aug. 13, 2014 – Chamberlain College of Nursing announced the appointment of Patricia Byrnes Martin, DNP, MSN, RN, as president of its Tinley Park, Illinois, campus effective immediately. Dr. Martin comes to Chamberlain with more than 35 years of clinical, academic and leadership experience. In her new role, she will oversee curriculum implementation, delivery of student services, growth and development of regional clinical partnerships and management of day-to-day operations.
“With her deep understanding of executive management and academia, Dr. Martin embodies a leadership style that is an excellent fit with our culture of extraordinary student and colleague care,” said Susan Groenwald, PhD, MSN, RN, national president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “As she leads the Tinley Park campus, she will be an invaluable resource to students and faculty by providing the support necessary to continue Chamberlain’s legacy of excellence in nursing education.”
Dr. Martin succeeds Bonnie Saucier, PhD, MSN, MEd, RN, who served as president of the Tinley Park campus since the campus opened in 2013. Dr. Saucier will remain on Chamberlain’s academic team as a visiting professor for post licensure programs.
Before joining Chamberlain, Dr. Martin was an assistant professor of nursing, instructor of nursing and, most recently, program coordinator of the online RN to BSN Completion Program of the College of Health and Human Services at Governors State University. She previously served as president, chief executive officer and vice president of operations at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Illinois. Dr. Martin currently serves on the board of the Lambda Lambda chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and is a member of its International Nurse Leader Review committee. She earned Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from Governors State University.
“Chamberlain prepares extraordinary nurses to deliver the highest level of care in a changing healthcare landscape and provides superior nursing education through student-focused support and academic options,” Dr. Martin said. “I look forward to continuing this strong tradition of supporting the future nurses who will improve patient care in our communities.”
