“The Economic Report” show to feature Chamberlain College of Nursing
August 13, 2008, Deerfield Beach, FL – The producers of The Economic Report are pleased to announce that Chamberlain College of Nursing will be featured in an upcoming segment on topics, trends and issues related to “Education in the 21st Century” as part of the show’s Focus on Emerging Issues series.
Quality health care is crucial to the sustainability of any society. The United States is currently experiencing a nursing shortage and the National Center for Health Workforce Analysis of the Health Resources Administration predicts that more than one million new and replacement nurses will be needed by 2016. Yet, the U.S. lacks the capacity to educate and train new nurses; the American Association of Colleges of Nursing found that more than 40,000 students were turned away from U.S. nursing schools last year due to lack of space.
In an effort to increase access to nursing education, Chamberlain College of Nursing is expanding its national presence. Established in 1889 as Deaconess College of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri, the institution has evolved from a local nursing diploma school to an accredited national college of nursing, offering both associate and bachelor's degree programs in nursing. Today, owned by DeVry Inc., Chamberlain College of Nursing continues to provide quality and innovative health care education with a strong historical foundation, broad general education background and clinical practice. In addition to its flagship location in St. Louis, Chamberlain has campuses in Addison (Chicago), Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; and Phoenix, Arizona. The College has also expanded to achieve a significant national online presence with the RN to BSN Online Degree Completion Program.
"Chamberlain College of Nursing prepares compassionate, clinically proficient graduates and fosters personal growth and career mobility for our nursing students," says Susan Groenwald, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. "We offer both associate and bachelor's degree programs in nursing. Additionally, the College has a 'Fast Track' RN to BSN Online Degree Completion Program that offers registered nurses throughout the U.S. an opportunity to support their professional growth by completing a bachelor's degree in nursing in as few as three semesters. This flexible program enables students to complete their degree online regardless of where they reside."
The five-minute segment will address the nation's nursing shortage and will feature the solutions and nursing education programs offered by Chamberlain College of Nursing. The segment will be filmed on-location at the College's founding campus in St. Louis, Missouri, and will include interviews with Groenwald, along with other College representatives.
