Employee Highlight: Career Services Advisor Rachel Coughlin
Rachel Coughlin, MBA, is a senior career services advisor at Chamberlain’s Columbus campus.
Hello! I have been with Chamberlain for over five and a half years. I am one of the Career Services advisors on the Columbus campus. In this role, I work with students and alumni to help them reach their career goals.
I often joke that I haven’t found a student yet that decided to come to nursing school just for the fun of it, so I make it my goal to help our students put their education to work by helping them find a position as a registered nurse after graduation or a part-time position while they are in the program.
Prior to my current role, I worked as an admission advisor for two and a half years. I loved the excitement of working with individuals as they began their nursing school journey. Before starting with Chamberlain, I worked in recruiting. First, I staffed for a large call center, where I interviewed and hired individuals for customer service and sales positions. After that I worked as an executive recruiter for a healthcare management firm, where I recruited individuals for many healthcare positions, including nursing. These positions gave me a great knowledge base for my current role in Career Services.
Outside of my position, I am a huge proponent of continuing education. I completed my undergraduate degree in organizational communication at Capital University and my MBA at Keller. I also completed a training course to become a certified career development facilitator through the National Career Development Association in 2011. Presently, I am on the hunt for my next degree program, which I hope to begin by the end of this year.
On a personal note, I love spending as much time as I can with my seven-year-old daughter and my husband, as well as our family and friends. We love to keep busy but when I have some downtime, I enjoy reading, and I take advantage of the fact that my husband loves to cook. We are a perfect pair; he loves to cook and I love to eat!
Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me. I love what I do at Chamberlain and I am excited to share a little about it with you.
