At Chamberlain College of Nursing – Indianapolis, it has been an exciting year. In 2012, our campus opened and we welcomed our very first class of students. Our library began to fill up with books. Students were sent out to their first clinical experience at Wishard Hospital. New faculty members were hired. Our science labs filled with inquiring minds. In the spring, our campus participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® for breast cancer.
In October we celebrated the grand opening of our campus. We saw our Student Nurses Association (SNA) become organized and joined with St. Vincent Hospital in giving salt away so the icy weather wouldn’t cause falls. In the “Doing Good by Doing Well” mindset, our employees and students joined together to decorate a tree with mittens, gloves, scarves and toiletries to be donated to a local domestic abuse center. Our students were successful, and they took academic steps that brought them closer to their ultimate goal of becoming a registered nurse.
Yes, we have said goodbye to the year 2012, but we did so with fond memories and a thankful heart for all the experiences and memories it gave us. The year 2013 promises to be an exciting one! Our campus is growing and we now have many more students that we have the privilege of educating. As the year unfolds, it is important we embrace all of the possibilities it holds for us. May the year find you healthy and happy, peaceful and looking forward to academic success, interesting new people and a variety of pleasures.
