Looking Ahead in Atlanta

family atlanta

As Chamberlain approaches its one year anniversary in Atlanta, it was extremely exciting to see so many new and returning faces coming through the doors just a few weeks ago. By now, our inaugural group of students has settled into the routine of labs, clinicals, studying and managing their busy schedules, while others are just beginning to understand the full responsibility of being a nursing student. I would never say the experience is an easy one, but I can assure each of you that the journey will be fulfilling and the reward immense.

I want to challenge each of you to consider the profession you are entering and hold yourselves to the standards of so many other amazing nursing leaders before you. Be tolerant and kind to each other, your faculty and most importantly the many patients who will be placed in your care. We’ve set the bar high for you because we believe that you can reach it, so never allow daily frustrations or minor setbacks to rob you of the achievements you are sure to have with hard work, accountability and commitment. Remember that one of the greatest signs of personal strength is the ability to seek assistance or admit when you need help. Our resources are here, so please utilize them early and often.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you. My advice: remember to think at least once a day about who you are, where you have been and where you are going. Take care of your bodies and minds; they must last you a lifetime. Listen to your parents and smile at your neighbors. These things alone will do wonderful things for your life.
