Muder Alkrisat Spends his Free Time Educating Kids on How to Stay Clean and Why It’s Important

Invited to speak at the prestigious Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society’s 31st International Nursing Research Congress in Abu Dhabi this July, Muder Alkrisat, PhD, RN, CSHA, CSSBB, PIA, HACP, CPHQ, a professor at Chamberlain University, will present his abstract Emotional Intelligence Factor in Patient Safety Climate. With 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, Muder said being a nurse has been “humbling and rewarding.”

Love for Mom and Science Led to Nursing

He gravitated toward the field when his mother was ill and he sought to become proactive with her healthcare. It also helped that he had a passion for science, particularly as it related to the human body and wellness.

Joining Chamberlain in 2013, Muder values the work environment and appreciates that his colleagues share similar goals and foresight as to the future of education. He teaches quality and safety, healthcare policy and other core courses for the master’s program, and he praised Chamberlain for encouraging “a cooperative atmosphere to ensure high-quality academia with supportive and diverse colleagues to elevate ideas through constructive feedback.”

Stepping Forward in the Community

When he’s not hiking or camping with his family, Muder is Stepping Forward by working with neighborhood schools to educate students on health promotion and the importance of hygiene. The lessons include information such as international immunology, what it means to be vaccinated, how bacteria lives and spreads, and other topics that may interest youth in science.

Muder also mentors PhD candidates on how to tackle research methods, statistical analyses and how to manage time and assimilate into Western culture. With his international community, Muder works with several healthcare organizations in the Middle East to advance quality systems to ensure patient safety and a progression of local healthcare processes.
