In her more than 30-year career, she has distinguished herself as a nurse executive with expertise in nurse leadership, hospital administration, nursing education, maternal/child health, social determinants of health, health disparities, social justice, immunizations, infection prevention, and higher education.

As provost and chief academic officer, Carla D. Sanderson works with academic deans, academic support services, faculty and staff to carry out the academic priorities of the university. She brings more than 40 years of healthcare and education experience to her role, with particular expertise in accreditation, research, healthcare regulation and leadership development.
