Lori Gutierrez
RN-C, DON-CLTC
RN to BSN Option '15

Lori was reappointed to the Arizona State Board of Nursing in October 2014 for her second five-year term. She also currently chairs the board’s scope of practice committee, where she helps draft advisory opinions that clarify regulations and give direction to both nurses and employers throughout the state. “Serving on the board validates my role as a nurse and a servant leader. It allows me to help keep the public safe and serve the profession that I love,” she said. A board-certified geriatrics nurse and long-term care specialist, Lori earned an associate’s degree in nursing in 1980. Thirty-two years later, at age 55, she decided to go back to school and earn her bachelor’s degree in nursing through Chamberlain’s RN to BSN degree completion option. At her graduation in February 2015, the audience included her husband, sons, grandson, mother and 93-year-old father – the person who encouraged her to become a nurse in the first place. Lori is now pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree at Chamberlain.

Lauren Spinasanto, RN
Addison Campus
BSN '13

Lauren gained a broad range of experience during her first year as a nurse, serving in the medical psychiatric, cardiac and trauma areas at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She recently took on a new position in the medical oncology unit at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. In September, she’ll be taking the next step in her career as she begins classes in Chamberlain’s MSN Family Nurse Practitioner program. “I don’t have a day when I don’t want to go to work,” said Lauren. “I can honestly say nursing is the right fit for me.”

Donna Croezen

Rachel Longfors

In between her last nursing course and sitting for the NCLEX®, Rachel Longfors squeezed in another feat – participation in the 2015 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. She is a discus thrower and contender for Team USA for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “It has been an unforgettable journey, but I am looking forward to being an RN,” she said.

Rachel Anderson
MSN, RN, CBIS
RN to BSN Option '12, MSN '13

Rachel is the program director at the Center for Rehabilitative Medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She’s also actively involved in advocacy for patients with brain injury. Last year, she helped draft recommendations for the state’s restructuring of mental health/disability services. “Within the redesign, I can see parts of the recommendations I wrote,” she said. “That is really inspiring and helps me see that I can make an impact.” Rachel currently serves on the Governor’s Advisory Council on Brain Injury.
