Chamberlain College of Nursing Appoints Dr. Joanne Disch Chair of Board of Trustees — October 4, 2012

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – Oct. 4, 2012 – Chamberlain College of Nursing has announced the appointment of Joanne Disch, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, as chair of its board of trustees. The board is the institutional governing body for Chamberlain, overseeing academic, operational and financial policies.

“As Chamberlain pursues our mission to provide superior nursing education, Joanne Disch is an excellent choice to lead the board,” said Susan Groenwald, Ph.D. (c), MSN, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “The board’s guidance supports Chamberlain’s commitment to continually enhance our academic quality and to meet the needs of our nursing students.”

The Chamberlain College of Nursing Board of Trustees’ responsibilities include advancing Chamberlain’s mission, overseeing academic and financial policies and establishing new or changing existing academic programs. They provide expertise on the nursing profession and on issues impacting the healthcare industry.

“Chamberlain has a long tradition of excellence in nursing education, and I look forward to helping further elevate the level of academic resources for the nurses who will shape the future of healthcare and their profession,” said Dr. Disch.

Dr. Disch brings valuable leadership and administrative experience to her new role as the chair of the board of trustees. In addition to currently serving as the president of the American Academy of Nursing, she served on the executive boards of the AARP, formerly the American Association of Retired Persons, the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses and Allina Health in Minnesota. Dr. Disch is a clinical professor at the University of Minnesota where, until July 2012, she was the director of the Katharine J. Densford International Center for Nursing Leadership.
