Curriculum

Chamberlain’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum focuses on conceptual learning while also encouraging students to gain necessary skills to translate what they learn in the classroom into the clinical setting. The program emphasizes the importance of retaining and properly applying the fundamentals of nursing.

Students acquire hands-on experience in two settings, the Chamberlain SIMCARE CENTER™ and on-site clinicals. This allows nursing students to work side-by-side with experienced registered nurses, classmates, faculty and mentors as they practice their direct patient-care nursing skills.

Our Tinley Park, IL, nursing program consists of a minimum of 122 credit hours: 56 credit hours in general education and 66 credit hours in the nursing major.

Campus Life

Fostering Learning and Student Growth

Chamberlain’s SIMCARE CENTER™ facilities are meant to replicate hospital and clinical settings as closely as possible, from actual hospital beds to scrub sinks. Before beginning clinicals, nursing students practice on patient simulators that replicate the live patient, from vital signs to sweating and beyond. This high-tech environment gives students the chance to practice making real-world, high-stakes decisions as if they were already working in the medical field.

In the SIMCARE CENTER™, you have a safe place to learn. We know you’re going to make mistakes, but we want to help you learn from those mistakes. We call that ‘falling forward.’” You will be able to see the real-time impact of your actions as your ‘patient’ responds to your treatment and care. Through interactive debriefing sessions, faculty will help you evaluate the experience. In these sessions, you talk about what worked and what didn’t and address your feelings in the process, which encourages improvement of skills and increases confidence.

global health

Our Global Health Education Program is a great opportunity for students to travel and learn about other cultures. Students get to partner with local medical organizations in a variety of clinical settings. The Global Health Education Program can fulfill the nursing program’s requirement for community and multiculturalism health classes.

Students are encouraged to apply for the Global Health Education Program Scholarship through the Empower Scholarship Fund.

Chamberlain nurse studying

Chamberlain partners with ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) Nursing Education to empower Chamberlain students to succeed in school, pass the NCLEX® and provide extraordinary care as a professional nurse. We’ve worked with ATI to meet our students’ needs through tools and resources that support a variety of learning styles. Whether it’s through videos, reading materials or their best-in-class learning solutions, ATI’s learning resources are there to support understanding, critical thinking and content mastery. And if students need extra help, tutorials, assessments and simulations are available and easy to access.
