Terra Downs, DNP, MSN, RN
Dr. Terra Downs is the Columbus campus’s Executive Dean of Academic Operations. Before this role, Dr. Downs worked as a faculty member, Associate Dean of Faculty, and Dean of Academic Affairs at Chamberlain University. She has been a nurse since 2008. During this time, she has worked in various leadership roles in addition to her nursing experience in medical-surgical, cardiovascular, endoscopy, and hematology-oncology nursing.
Before joining Chamberlain, Dr. Downs was a patient care resource manager at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital. In this role, she facilitated care coordination for oncology patients through the healthcare system and collaborated with healthcare workers to provide comprehensive assessment, treatment, and follow-up evaluation for patients. She was a central information source for third-party payers, maintained awareness of state and national healthcare trends, and proactively responded with initiatives to enhance the provision of care.
Dr. Downs completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Ohio University. She earned a Master of Science degree with an emphasis in leadership in healthcare systems from Grand Canyon University. She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with an emphasis in healthcare systems leadership from Chamberlain University. Dr. Downs holds her multi-state nursing license in Ohio.
