8 Great Reasons to Earn Your Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) at Chamberlain
You’ve decided to become a physician assistant. Congratulations! The field itself is expected to grow 28% from 2021 to 2031, with an average of approximately 12,700 positions opening up each year for the next decade.1 In order to embark on this exciting, rewarding, in-demand career, you’ll need to earn a master’s degree such as a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS). Chamberlain University is an excellent choice for your healthcare education and we’d like to share a few of the many reasons.
1. Chamberlain University specializes in educating healthcare professionals.
What if you could earn your degree at a university that is entirely focused on your field? You can! Chamberlain is known for empowering nurses and healthcare professionals to advance the health of their patients and communities. The university has a proud history of healthcare education dating back to the late 1800s.
2. Chamberlain is an accredited university.
Accreditation is a mark of quality that protects students and helps to ensure that your degree is valued. Chamberlain University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. This institutional accreditation validates the quality of Chamberlain’s academic programs. It also affirms that Chamberlain adheres to its mission, operates with integrity, and offers programs that focus on student learning.
3. PA Exam Room’s replicate the experience of working in a hospital.
Hone your skills in realistic exam rooms. Practice physical exams and patient interviews in a primary care setting. These dedicated areas provide opportunities for learning and practicing taking a patient’s medical history and conducting physical exams, honing communication skills and performing objective structured clinical exams (OSCEs).
4. Thrive with small class sizes.
Chamberlain’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies program is kept purposely small, so that students receive the individual support they need to succeed. In your inclusive, small classes, you’ll receive instruction, simulations, and skills training. Through case-based learning, you’ll encounter the same medical scenarios you would in a clinical practice.
5. Earn your Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree in just two years.
While earning your physician assistant degree can take two to three years, Chamberlain’s program is designed to be completed in as few as two years. The first year of the program is focused on instruction. The second 12 months are spent in a series of clinical clerkships that offer supervised experiences in clinical practice.
6. Clinical clerkships give you diverse, practical experience.
After you complete your classroom-based instruction, the next step in Chamberlain’s physician assistant program is to complete 10 four-week clerkships in clinical settings. Thanks to Chamberlain’s relationships with quality healthcare providers, you’ll have a variety of settings to choose from. Your clerkships will give you practical experience in family medicine, emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, behavioral health, surgery, pediatrics, and internal medicine. Additionally, you’ll have two elective clerkships that allow you to focus on an area of medicine you’re particularly interested in. In at least one rotation, your clerkship will empower you to serve an underrepresented, diverse community.
7. You could receive financial assistance.
More than 90% of Chamberlain students receive financial assistance in some form. Our admission representatives can help you identify financing options. They can also inform you about available scholarships, discuss possible transfer credit with you, and connect you with a financial aid advisor.
