According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, the state’s nursing shortage is predicted to reach 21,000 registered nurses by 2020. Illinois’ capacity to educate and train new nurses is not keeping up with growing demand. Last year, 2,523 students were turned away from Illinois nursing schools because of a lack of faculty and resources. The number represents a more than 50 percent increase from 2007 when 1,657 qualified applicants were turned away.

In combination with its Addison, Ill. campus, the new Chicago location will allow Chamberlain to reach aspiring nurses throughout the city and suburbs and respond to the critical and growing shortage of nursing professionals in Illinois and across the country
