Commission recognizes Chamberlain’s quality nursing program

MIRAMAR, Fla. — Jan. 10, 2012 — Chamberlain College of Nursing is pleased to announce that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has approved inclusion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program at the Miramar, Fla. campus in Chamberlain’s BSN accreditation. This programmatic accreditation follows the May 16, 2011 approval to include the campus in Chamberlain’s institutional accreditation from The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of College and Schools.

“Florida is facing a nursing shortage while the current capacity to educate and prepare new nurses is not keeping up with this growing need,” said Dr. Harriet Myers, president of Chamberlain College of Nursing’s Miramar campus. “We are pleased that CCNE has recognized the Miramar campus BSN degree program for inclusion within Chamberlain’s program accreditation. This grant of accreditation increases access to quality education in the state.”

CCNE is a national, autonomous accrediting agency that ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate and residency programs in nursing. CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices.

Chamberlain College of Nursing’s Miramar campus, located at 2300 SW 145th Ave., opened in July 2011 and features high-tech nursing skills and simulation laboratories. The campus offers an on-site BSN degree program that can be completed in three years of year-round study, instead of the typical four years with summers off. For registered nurses (RNs) looking to advance their education and careers, Chamberlain offers multiple online options, including RN to BSN degree completion option, Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree program and RN-BSN to MSN option. Program availability varies by location.

Since its founding in St. Louis more than 120 years ago, Chamberlain College of Nursing has provided quality nursing education and promoted student success. Chamberlain’s nursing degree programs are enhanced by experiential learning that provide students with opportunities to expand their education through a full spectrum of social, cause-related and diverse field experience opportunities.
