Chamberlain University Announces New Orleans Campus

Chamberlain University is expanding! Through a unique premier educational alliance, Chamberlain University College of Nursing has come together with Ochsner Health system – a renowned medical institution right here in Louisiana – and opened a new campus located on the West Campus of Ochsner Medical Center on Jefferson Highway in New Orleans.
The new campus is Chamberlain’s first in Louisiana and will join 20 other locations across the country. Chamberlain University College of Nursing at Ochsner Health System expands baccalaureate nursing education opportunities in New Orleans, addressing the current nursing shortage the city is facing and providing our Chamberlain Care® culture and robust support for student success.
The campus offers an on-site, three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program, and we’re now accepting applications for the inaugural class starting April 30th, 2018.
"Ochsner acknowledges the dire need for nurses and their important contribution to the healthcare industry not only within our institution, but across the state," said Tracey Moffatt, RN, Vice President of Quality and Chief Nursing Officer for Ochsner Health System. "This affiliation creates a unique and proactive opportunity to fulfill that need through a new program that encompasses interdisciplinary learning and simulation training that supports clinical experiences for nursing students."
How our Students Benefit
A key element of the new campus is the educational alliance agreement with Ochsner Health System. The educational alliance was formed to focus on improving patient care through strong academic-service collaboration in areas such as evidence-based practice, nursing research, interprofessional education and care teams while piloting new models for transitioning students into nursing practice.
Chamberlain students will have the exclusive opportunity to do all of their clinical rotations at the renowned Ochsner Health System facilities and partner locations. In addition, third-year students will have the opportunity to apply for a BSN Nurse Technician Honors Program and will have access to system nursing professional development programs at Ochsner Health System.
Our commitment is to deliver a high-value education that prepares students to thrive as a healthcare professional. We call this commitment Chamberlain Care® – our dedication to providing students with the tools and resources to be successful while being immersed in a community of care, exemplified by faculty and student support that helps foster academic success.
The new campus features the Chamberlain SIMCARE CENTERTM, a nursing skills laboratory where students work with patient simulators as they are challenged to react in real-time to medical scenarios including childbirth, seizures and cardiac arrest. A Center for Academic Success will also be available on campus, providing comprehensive academic resources and support for students.
