Chamberlain offers up to six start dates per year for the BSN program—no prerequisites required. Our no-cost BSN Readiness Course covers the HESI A2 subjects, helping you sharpen skills at your own pace. 

Chamberlain University’s BSN Admission Committee applies a holistic admission process when determining academic eligibility. The BSN Admission Committee reviews applicants using a holistic model evaluation system that considers several factors: previous coursework, CGPA and HESI Admission Assessment (A2) or ACT/SAT scores. Additional factors important to student success in nursing school may also be considered. An applicant's most recent educational experience shall be considered by the Chamberlain University BSN Admission Committee.

• Proof of graduation scale from a Chamberlain recognized High School or an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education¹.
• Foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES-approved evaluating agency or Chamberlain's Internal Global Transcript Evaluation Services.
• A completed HESI A2 entrance exam. A custom HESI A2 score is calculated by using a subset of all four exam scores. ACT or SAT scores may be used in lieu of the HESI Admission Assessment (A2). These scores are valid for one year from the student’s graduation date and will be reviewed for academic eligibility by the Chamberlain University BSN Admission Committee within that one-year timeframe.
• Applicants from states that offer an approved high school equivalency may also be eligible for admission. To be considered by the Admission Committee, the applicant must have a minimum GED® test score of 551 if taken between 2002-2013 or a minimum score of 600 if taken after 2013. Applicants from states that offer an approved high school equivalency test such as the ETS High School Equivalency Test (HiSET), Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) or California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) in lieu of the GED tests may gain admission by presenting documentation for having met state requirements for the equivalency of a high school diploma.
• Florida Locations Only: Re-admitted students who have completed over 75 percent of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program, at a campus other than their intended Florida campus, will not be permitted to request admission to any Chamberlain University Florida campus. Students will remain assigned to their home/primary location and follow the process to complete nursing courses at an alternate campus. Degrees will be conferred at the home/primary Chamberlain campus. NCLEX® applications to test will require use of the degree conferral campus school code.

Pending space availability, applicants deemed academically eligible may be eligible to enroll as a new student at any Chamberlain pre-licensure location and for up to two sessions immediately following the session for which the decision was rendered. The applicant will not need to submit a new application unless their application has expired. If an applicant requests a change to their preferred location or session, additional deadlines may be imposed to reserve enrollment at the new location or in the future session (see Phase II requirements in this section of the catalog).

You can go to Chamberlain Sacramento after your high school graduation or after you pass the General Educational Development (GED^®) test. 

If you are a licensed practical nurse (LPN) or a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), you have a head start on your BSN degree at Chamberlain Sacramento. A licensed LPN or LVN can earn the 3-year BSN degree at our Sacramento campus with up to ten proficiency credits—and after passing proficiency and skills validation tests.

Chamberlain recognizes that military personnel in California with previous knowledge, training, and experience as healthcare specialists that meet the criteria below may be able to demonstrate achievement of all pre-licensure BSN course outcomes through proficiency examinations. Proficiency examinations are comprehensive final assessments (challenge exams) that provide veterans the opportunity to demonstrate achievement of course learning outcomes. BSN program applicants or students in Sacramento who feel that course material has been mastered, through coursework completed outside Chamberlain for which transfer credit cannot be given, may request a Chamberlain proficiency examination for any course in the pre-licensure BSN curriculum, provided they have not previously attempted the proficiency exam or is not currently enrolled in the course. Nursing proficiency examinations must be completed in the order of course sequencing set forth on the curriculum plan. Some courses will require completion of a standardized assessment and/or a comprehensive skills checklist in order to validate previously acquired knowledge/skill. Proficiency exams may only be attempted one time and coursework satisfied by a Chamberlain proficiency exam cannot be repeated for a grade. Contact Academic Support Advising for more information.
