Instructions for Applying to Chamberlain's Undergraduate Degree Program
Thank you for your interest in pursuing your nursing education at Chamberlain College of Nursing. Please follow the instructions below to submit an application for admission. To view all requirements, review the Undergraduate Admission section of the catalog.
- Submit a completed Application for Admission located at chamberlain.edu/apply. Admission documents may be mailed or faxed to the address indicated on the application.
- Submit a $95 ($60 for RN to BSN option) non-refundable* application fee payable to Chamberlain University (major credit cards, personal check or money order accepted).
- Schedule an interview with the admission representative.
- Request an official transcript documenting proof of graduation.** See the Undergraduate/Pre-Licensure and Undergraduate/Post-Licensure Admission Requirements section of the catalog for specific proof of graduation documents.
- Request official transcripts from all previously attended institutions.
*Application fee is refundable if the applicant cancels the agreement in writing prior to midnight of the tenth business day after the date of transaction. The application fee is waived for Chamberlain alumni, Ochsner Health employees, previous Chamberlain students returning after six consecutive sessions of interrupted academic studies, as well as qualified military personnel (active duty, veterans, retired military, spouses and dependents), Department of Defense employees, Chamberlain Florida and Arizona campus location applicants, MPAS applicants who applied via CASPA and non-degree seeking students enrolled at Chamberlain who are applying to a matriculating program. Applicants to the BSN program who have demonstrated a family financial hardship to their high school counselor may qualify for a waiver through an income qualified college application waiver program from ACT, the College Board, and NACAC. Applicants must provide required documentation signed by the student’s high school counselor or another designated high school official. No application fee is required for current Chamberlain students enrolled in the RN-BSN to MSN option. Applicants who are utilizing the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Centralized Application System (e.g., AACN Nursing CAS) and have submitted a Chamberlain application for admission via this service will have their Chamberlain application fee waived.
**Applicants for the Tysons Corner campus must provide a high school/equivalency transcript documenting proof of graduation.
Additional Pre-Licensure Instructions
- Schedule and complete the HESI Admission Assessment (A2) (see Admission Requirements if applicable).
- Complete a drug screen and background and fingerprint check.
Additional Post-Licensure Instructions
- Provide proof of a current, active RN license from the U.S. or from a jurisdiction that is an associate member of the NCSBN.
Instructions for Applying to Chamberlain's Graduate Degree Program
Please follow the instructions below to submit an application for admission. Make sure to review the admission requirements before you apply.
- Submit a completed Application for Admission and submit it with the $60 non-refundable* application fee payable to Chamberlain College of Nursing (Major credit cards, personal check or money order accepted). Apply online or download the Application for Admission Form (PDF). Admission documents may be mailed or faxed to the address indicated on the application.
- Provide official transcripts from the college or university where the BSN was earned. If applying to the Graduate Certificate Programs or DNP, provide official transcripts from the college or university where the MSN was earned. Official foreign transcripts must be evaluated by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) approved evaluating agency.
- Applicants seeking to transfer credit must provide official transcripts of all graduate coursework (Graduate Certificate Programs do not accept transfer credits). Students should note that a transcript request is not required for coursework previously completed at Chamberlain, as the College already has access to these records.
- Provide proof and maintain a current, active unrestricted RN license from the U.S. or from a jurisdiction that is an associate member of the NCSBN
- All instruction and services are provided in English. English language services are not provided. Applicants must prove English proficiency by providing evidence of one of the following:
- Having received the degree required for admission to Chamberlain in which the language of instruction was English
- Having scored at least 550 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); having scored at least 213 on the computer-based TOEFL; or having scored at least 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL
- Having successfully completed four consecutive years of a secondary education, (i.e., high school) or higher (i.e., post-secondary, bachelor's or master's), in which the language of instruction was English
- Having completed at least the equivalent of 48 semester credit hours with a CGPA of 2.75 for the undergraduate programs or 2.0 undergraduate post-licensure programs and 3.0 for the graduate programs, at a post-secondary institution in which the language of instruction was English (excluding Remedial, Developmental and English-As-A-Second-Language [ESL] courses)
- Having achieved an overall band score of at least 6.5 and no lower than 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination
- Having honorably served a minimum of three years of active military service in any branch of the Armed Forces
- Having honorably served a minimum of three years in any reserve component of the Armed Forces of the United States, to include the Air National Guard
- Having successfully completed secondary or post-secondary education from a country where English is identified as the official/native language of the country listed in the CIA World Factbook

Master of Public Health
Provisional Acceptance
Applicants who meet all general admission requirements to the Master of Public Health degree program and the MPH Post-Baccalaureate Certificate, but who have a CGPA for the bachelor’s degree between 2.5 to 2.99, may be granted provisional acceptance and placed on academic warning. Provisionally accepted students will need to complete an additional Professional Writing course to meet graduation requirements. See the Academic Warning sections for additional information.
Master of Social Work
Traditional Option Admission Requirements
A degree at the bachelor’s level or higher with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education. Degrees earned from non-U.S. schools will be considered based on evaluation of transcripts by a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) approved evaluating agency or Chamberlain's internal Global Transcript Evaluation Services.
Advanced Standing Option Admission Requirements
Degrees earned within the past 5 years:
A degree in social work at the bachelor's level or higher with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education and accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Applicants with foreign transcripts must have graduated from an accredited international program in social work where the accrediting body has a memorandum of understanding with CSWE or whose degree has been evaluated and approved by the CSWE International Social Work Degree Recognition Service.

Degrees earned in excess of 5 years:
A degree in social work at the bachelor's level or higher with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education and accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Applicants with foreign transcripts must have graduated from an accredited international program in social work where the accrediting body has a memorandum of understanding with CSWE or whose degree has been evaluated and approved by the CSWE International Social Work Degree Recognition Service.
An active social work license in good standing with a state board in the U.S1.
1Chamberlain reserves the right to admit candidates with social work licensure from countries outside the U.S. where equivalent standards can be demonstrated. These decisions are made on a case-by-case basis according to the general academic principles of integrity outlined by the Academic Standards committee in the view of the policies regulated by the Council of Social Work Education.
Master of Social Work (MSW) Provisional Acceptance
Provisional admission will be applied to applicants who meet all general admission requirements to enter the Master of Social Work degree program, but who have a CGPA for the bachelor’s degree between 2.0 to 2.49. These applicants may be granted provisional acceptance and placed on academic warning. See the Academic Warning sections for additional information. Provisional Acceptance is only available to students applying to the MSW Traditional Option.
Life Experience or Previous Work Experience
The MSW degree program does not grant or accept course credit, nor grant field practicum hours, for previous work and/or life experience.

Prospective students should complete an application through the Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CASPA1). Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and ranked according to the number of admission points awarded during the selection screening process. A campus visit and interview with the MPAS Admission Committee will be offered to selected applicants.
Determining conditional acceptance is the role of the Chamberlain MPAS Admission Committee. The Committee reviews all CASPA verified applicants based on educational experience, CGPA, GRE scores, healthcare experience and letter writers’ assessments of the applicant's ability to be a future physician assistant. Applicants may submit materials for consideration by the Admission Committee that are above or below the thresholds. Students whose CGPA for the bachelor's degree is between 2.75 and 2.99 may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Additional factors important to student success in a physician assistant program may also be considered by the Admission Committee such as an applicant's most recent educational experience. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
Minimum criteria for admission to the Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree program are as follows:
- A degree in any major at the bachelor’s level from an institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education.
- A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the bachelor’s degree or higher as listed on the transcript from the degree conferring school.
- Prerequisite science courses completed within the previous 10 years (see prerequisite requirements section).
- Completion of prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better (see "Prerequisite Requirements" below) and a minimum CASPA-calculated Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 for science courses at the time of CASPA verification.
- Submission of scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the last 10 years.
- Three recommendation letters including one from a physician assistant licensed healthcare provider; preferably a physician assistant and one from an employer, preferably a healthcare experience supervisor
- Completion of an on-campus interview with the MPAS degree program Admission Committee. Interviews are by invitation only, and completion of an interview does not guarantee admission.

Chamberlain reserves the right to admit candidates with equivalent educational qualifications from accreditors that are not recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education, as determined by an independent transcript evaluation.
Admission preference consideration will be given to applicants who meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of 300 hours of clinical healthcare experience (direct-patient-care experience that includes hands-on contact with patients in a medical setting, such as but not limited to certified nursing assistant, emergency medical technician, medical assistant, military medic, paramedic, registered nurse or respiratory therapist); while there is no requirement for healthcare experience, it is strongly recommended
- Physician assistant shadowing experience of at least 16 hours (shadowing a physician or nurse practitioner does not satisfy this criterion)
- Military or veterans
- Chamberlain University students or alumni
- Reside in an area designated medically underserved area
