
Fran Angerer-Fuenzalida, PhD, MPH, PA-C
Dr. Fran Angerer-Fuenzalida was appointed founding dean and program director of Chamberlain University’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree program in January of 2020. She has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare field. As founding dean and program director she oversaw the development and implementation Chamberlain University’s first MPAS program in Chicago. In October of 2024, she transitioned to the MPAS Executive Dean role and now oversees all MPAS programs across the Chamberlain University.
Prior to joining Chamberlain, Dr. Angerer-Fuenzalida held a variety of positions in education and healthcare. She served as a pediatric physician assistant resident in the Yale University School of Medicine/Norwalk Hospital Physician Assistant Pediatric Residency Program. She also served as program director for Kettering College Physician Assistant program in Kettering, Ohio for seven years and has over 19 years of experience as a PA educator.
She has wide-ranging international experiences in the implementation and administration of public health initiatives having worked on health promotion and disease prevention in over six countries. She has lived in Albania and Bangladesh working on primary health care implementation, management and policy development for both USAID-funded and community-run health projects. Other international experience includes work in India, Haiti, El Salvador and the Solomon Islands.
Dr. Angerer-Fuenzalida holds a Physician Assistant degree from Kettering College and a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. In addition, Dr. Angerer-Fuenzalida attended the University of Dayton where she earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership, as well as her undergraduate degree in Medical Technology.
Dr. Angerer-Fuenzalida currently serves as an accreditation site visitor for the Accreditation Review Commission on education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
