Career Opportunities in Nursing

At Chamberlain University, our nursing programs have been helping prepare students to turn their calling into a career for over 130 years. While you’ll find many of our graduates in hospitals and clinics caring for patients, a nursing degree can lead to a number of other rewarding careers as well.

School nurses support the health and well-being of students, from first aid and medication management to supporting those with chronic health conditions and administering preventative screenings. Looking more toward the future? Nurse educators shape the next generation of caregivers, and nursing informaticists combine compassion with cutting-edge data to enhance patient care.

Registered nurse job growth is projected to increase 5% from 2024 to 2034, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Our career resources offer a wide range of services to help you after you earn your degree.

Support Services for Nursing Students

We’re the nation’s largest nursing program by enrollment, and the Chamberlain community—over 177,000 students, faculty and alumni—is right there behind you to support your passion.

It begins with a baseline. An early assessment gives you the chance to learn your strengths and discover what you can improve. Academic support advisors can help you create your own personalized curriculum plan, while peers and professional healthcare staff offer tutoring and study advice through the Center for Academic Success.

To help you get ready for your licensure exams, Chamberlain offers NCLEX® prep, including next-gen virtual patient encounters, as well as self-led and group simulations using in-home lab kits. The 16-week Chamberlain Readiness course helps you finish strong and be ready to take the NCLEX-RN®.

The library is a student favorite filled with nursing and medical journals, guidebooks, and more useful resources. A team of librarians helps students find the information they need and leads workshops to help sharpen research skills.

Our support extends beyond the classroom, too; Chamberlain’s Practicum Commitment® is dedicated to helping you find a practicum site and preceptor that support you in applying your new skills.

Our educators are as passionate as you are, providing one-on-one attention to help you succeed both in and outside the classroom. But what truly sets our faculty apart is the dedication they bring.

“My professors provided immense support in many ways. Their dedication and willingness to invest in my success truly made a lasting impact on my journey.”

—Shontanice Miller, BSN ’24

Flexible Nursing Programs for Working Adults

Chamberlain’s nursing programs are designed to fit around your schedule, with online, campus, and campus hybrid options available.

Our BSN Online Option, for example, combines online coursework with virtual simulations and real-world clinical experience, while our campus-based programs include in-person weekday and weekend classes and simulations that are both virtual and in our SIMCARE CENTER. Programs with a campus hybrid option combine the benefits of both, so you can spend less time commuting and more time following your calling.

Some programs feature additional options for balancing your professional and personal responsibilities with your education. Our RN to BSN students can turn in some assignments with no late penalties if they speak with their professor the Friday before an assignment is due, while non-clinical MSN students work with deadlines that flex to fit their schedules, including three-day grace periods for major assignments. Accelerated MSN students have the freedom to decide when to turn in their major assignments, with a seven-week window to get things done on their schedule.
