Chamberlain Receives Quality Matters Certification Mark for Achievements in Online Teaching and Online Learner Support
By Jill Price, PhD, MSN, RN, Director of Nursing Graduate Programs, Chamberlain University
Our constant focus is on academic excellence and providing students with the support they need to be successful in their program of study. To that end, we are excited to announce that our RN to BSN option is the only RN to BSN option that has received the Online Teaching Support and Online Learner Support Certifications and the only RN to BSN option with the nationally recognized Quality Matters certification mark.
Quality Matters Certification Process
The Quality Matters Certification is a peer review process for faculty that certifies the quality and teaching of online courses and programs. We know that student success begins with faculty excellence, which is why Chamberlain began working with Quality Matters in 2013.
Since then, in addition to the two new certifications, our RN to BSN program has achieved four formal course review recognitions for Community Health Nursing, Evidence-Based Practice, Collaborative Healthcare and Health Assessment courses. To date, Chamberlain is one of three national institutions with Teaching Support certification and one of only two institutions with Learner Support certification.
How our Students Benefit
This new achievement is another example of Chamberlain Care® – our ongoing commitment to student success and excellence. Chamberlain University is dedicated to academic excellence and supporting our students to be successful in their courses and as extraordinary nurses. This dedication is what drove our decision to pursue Quality Matters Certification and we’re proud to be the only RN to BSN option with the nationally recognized Quality Matters certification mark.
This gives our students reassurance that our faculty are certified in meeting the online learning environment needs of adult learners. We are laser-focused on evaluating and continuously improving the policies, processes, resources and support services for our students.
What’s next?
While these certifications make us proud, we need to remind ourselves why it is essential to be on the cutting edge of online education – to provide an online course platform, technology and resources along with the experienced nurse educators that help bring applied practice into the classroom.
Achieving the nationally recognized Quality Matters certification mark is just one step towards fulfilling our mission of educating, empowering and emboldening diverse healthcare professionals who advance the health of people, families, communities and nations.
